Prague
as the congress city

Prague is the 14th congress destination of the world

Prague has climbed up five positions on the chart of the prestigious International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). Last year, the Czech capital hosted 98 big congresses and shares the 14th place with Copenhagen. The top position is occupied by Vienna. In the overall statistics, the Czech Republic took the 31st place. In 2011, 122 big events were held in the Czech Republic, which means 19 more than the previous year.

Statistics released by ICCA include so far only the absolute number of congresses held in given destinations. In mid-June, the association shall release an official document covering further criteria, such as the number of congress participants, number of meetings in a given congress, or the average length of a congress.

The number of big congresses held in the Czech Republic has been increasing in recent years. While in 2007, 97 events were held here (only 11 of which were outside Prague), in 2011 the number climbed to 122 meetings (98 in Prague and 24 in regions).
